One of the goals of the Acromegaly Society is to raise awareness of acromegaly.
Currently patients experience significant delay in diagnosis of acromegaly, with average diagnosis delay of 5-10 years after symptom onset. This results in reduced quality of life and increased morbidity and mortality.
Early in disease progression, acromegaly may not manifest with clear clinical symptoms or the stereotypical physical changes that is associated with acromegaly. A high vigilance from health professionals is required.
We have produced awareness materials for a range of health professionals, these are available FREE to download. Please feel free to share these with your health professionals.
