One of the goals of Acromegaly NZ is to raise awareness for this rare condition.
Some patients may experience significant delays in the diagnosis of acromegaly and this may results in reduced quality of life and increased morbidity & mortality.
Early in disease progression, a patient may not present with clear clinical symptoms or the stereotypical physical changes that is associated with acromegaly. A high vigilance from health professionals is required.
